About this room
The Lord Nelson is naturally decorated in a naval theme. There are artworks depicting historic ships and the great man himself. The textiles are blue and combined with the cherry wood furniture there is a masculine feel to this room.
Of interest near Bath:
Lord Nelson, like many military figures at the time, came to Bath to rest and recover during brief periods of leave from military service. His father had retired to Bath and Lord Nelson is known to have returned in 1780 and subsequently in 1797 to seek advice on the treatment of the stump on his arm. It was no doubt the draw of society and the restorative powers of the Bath Spa that drew Lord Nelson here and he took up residence at 2 Pierpont Street.
